While North Korea builds and advances their nuclear arms South Korea is right below them with no nuclear arms, yet this might be a smart move. South Korea has the resources to build up a nuclear missile of their own in a short amount of time but it wouldn't really help anyone around them. South Korea sits in an area surrounded by countries that also have nuclear weapons, such as Russia, China, and Japan. If South Korea were to build up their nuclear arms it would cause the rest of those countries to go into an arms race, only expanded their amount of nuclear bombs. In 2004, South Korea acknowledged that there were secret nuclear experiments, yet nothing came of that. South Korea wouldn't have too much of a need of nuclear protection and weapons because it is under America's protection, even though we moved our nuclear weapons out of there in 1991. In the end it is the best thing to keep South Korea from having nuclear weapons, for now.
