"Cooperation" in the News

The Economist recently outlined the conflict between Republicans and Democrats over immigration reform. The Republican Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell proposed to bring a legislative change to the DACA law
(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). This law protects undocumented child immigrants in America from deportation. Conservative republicans such as Steven Miller and Tom Cotton argued for a more secure border and less immigration, both illegal and legal. The Senate cooperated and voted 81-18 to end the shutdown and back a bill to fund the government until February 8th. However, if they do not bring up the DACA bill for a vote soon, they could shut down the government again.
