The Economist reported that Turkey launched a military attach on Kurdish fighters in Syria. This move opens a new front in the seven year war and continues to create a challenge for allied countries including the U.S. and Russia to defuse tensions. Turkey has been a supporter of Syrian rebels and their attempt to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. The new military campaign, named Operation Olive Branch, follows a recent U.S. announcement to create a border force in Syria out of the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces.
