The Economist shared that financial regulators in Asia have implemented widely different policies towards crypto-currencies as the largest modernization trend in instant payments continues to grow. Most recently, on January 11th, South Korea’s justice minister introduced a proposal to to ban crypto-currency exchanges. The government’s decision follows China’s move who also banned domestic exchanges a year ago. Contrastingly, Japan has supported crypto assets that can be used for payments. Supporters of the blockchain and modern payment methods contend that virtual currencies allow for freedom from government interference. However, many regulators continue to intervene in modern developments of payment methods.
