In light of President Trump’s tweets about his “big nuclear button”, the CDC has announced that it is to hold a workshop for doctors, government officials, and any others possibly responsible for being emergency responders during a nuclear attack on January 16. However, according to a CDC spokesman, it was not the president’s tweets that spurred the workshop, as they had been planning it as far back as April of 2017. The program includes strategies on how to reduce the fallout of a possible nuclear attack and how to prepare in the unlikely event that one should happen.
