"Technology" in the News
Alstom, a prominent French engineering company, will be testing automated freight train prototypes this year in the Netherlands. The technology for automated trains already exists, but it will take a few decades for the technology to be utilized throughout Europe. Trains are not expected to ever be completely driverless because it would be much safer to have someone overseeing the train’s progress and have the ability to press an override button should an emergency occur.
