"Disease" in the News

Kaplan, Sheila. “Nuclear War Would Be ‘Devastating,’ So the C.D.C. Wants to Get People Prepared.” The New York Times, The New York Times, 5 Jan. 2018, www.nytimes.com/2018/01/05/health/cdc-nuclear-attack.html.

The nuclear missiles attempting to be sent to the United States has come to be a surreal matter. The C.D.C. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has proposed the ability to take a workshop for doctors, government officials, etc. that have survived and are capable to help those who need it. The workshop is called “Public Health Response to a Nuclear Denotation”, where their goal is to potentially prevent the spread of disease from the missile(s). Research has been shown that “More than 250,000 people could survive a ten kiloton nuclear bomb on a city by simply staying where they are”, showing that the C.D.C. has taken into great consideration of how the nuclear missile should be dealt with, and that simply staying as are can be more beneficial than trying to leave, in order to prevent disease.
